Anouncement

I wrote this song and poem last night for my friend Michael Smith. I chose to celebrate his life rather
than just mourn his final breath. Michael lived fully—strong, present, and grounded in faith without ever
separating his life into pieces. I feel this loss deeply…especially for his young family. I keep crying
thinking of him and I wanted to create something with the sadness I feel to memorialize the respect I
have for my friend. But I also feel something deeper than grief—gratitude. For who Michael is. For how
he showed up for me and countless others. And for the hope that this isn’t the end of his story. I
I wrote this song the night Michael passed. It’s not about loss. It’s about what remains. With tears in
my eyes and courage in my heart, I hold onto the promise—we’ll be together in glory.
I believe in reunion
I believe in forever
I believe the story keeps going
So I’ll keep walking
Keep believing
I celebrate your life
not the day you left
but the grace you were
that still lives in my memory
I honor your legacy
I celebrate your life
And yeah—there’s days it hits hard
like the air got thinner
But by the goodness of God
We’ll walk together on golden roads
I celebrate your life
I’ll see you again
I know that’s true
until that day comes
I’ll stay inspired by you
with tears in my eyes
and courage in my heart
and hope that survives
I celebrate your life

This is how I remember Michael—fully integrated, never split. He trained the body with focus whole
person. He saw the unseen and lived with purpose to the end. This poem honors the man who taught
truth, often asking us this question: “Does that make sense?”
Thailand to Florida.
Runway to pulpit.
He never split his life.
He stitched it.
Dumbbells and scripture, sweat and soul.
He trained the body, but aimed at the whole.
Come have breakfast.
Not just believe, faith you could touch, not just receive.
Keller shaped him, but didn’t contain him.
He walked into rooms and quietly named them.
Not by status, not by show,
But the one unseen some of us know.
A father said, “I’m not afraid.”
A son pressed life where death was made.
Rider’s hands, the final fight,
Love refusing to lose the light.
Sherman heard him, clear and steady,
Purpose, power, are you ready?
He built bridges he never crossed alone,
Body, soul, spirit, fully grown.
“Does that make sense?”

Both pieces—lyrics, audio, artwork, and blockchain minting—were created spontaneously this morning
using attn.live and stream.attn.live. Michael had strength, faith, relationships, purpose—all integrated.
This is my way of honoring that. The same way his life wasn’t fragmented, the creative process didn’t
have to be either. Coinbase’s BASE blockchain ensures this work lives on—distributed, permanent,
Last month my dad’s brother (Uncle Mike) died. Our family also lost his youngest brother, my Uncle
Lenny, a couple years ago. My two grandmas went to Heaven about a decade ago. And I have lost many other friends over the years like my “uncle” Steve Davis and ministry partner Trevor Floyd.
Death always hurts. It can feel overwhelming and so very sad. But this one hit differently. A heart
attack taking Michael feels to me like Doomsday killing Superman. How can Superman die!?! In his
final sermon on March 15th Michael said, “I really believe the best years are just ahead of us.” He’s right. That wasn’t just for his church. That’s for you and me. Our best years are ahead. May we all live with the same power and purpose my friend did.
