MANILA, Philippines — In a major push toward integrating emerging technology into Philippine classrooms, Google Philippines has launched the Google AI Educator Series (GES). The initiative, rolled out in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), delivers free, foundational artificial intelligence training tailored specifically for Filipino educators.
The program offers self-paced online modules designed to take between 15 and 45 minutes to finish. It aims to demystify generative AI for teachers across basic education, tertiary institutions, and technical-vocational tracks.
The curriculum focuses on practical classroom applications, prompt engineering, and reducing routine administrative burdens so educators can dedicate more time to instruction and student engagement.
Key areas covered in the program include:
Upon finishing each module, participants earn verifiable digital badges demonstrating their digital competencies.
The tripartite partnership ensures that educators across all tiers of the Philippine education sector can easily access and benefit from the training:
| Agency | Integration Details | Professional Incentives |
| DepEd (Basic Education) | Accessible via the Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD) Hub since September 28; backed by an upcoming joint circular. | Accredited by the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) to grant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units required for PRC license renewal. |
| CHED (Higher Education) | Issued via an advisory to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as an optional faculty development resource. | Aligns directly with CHED Memorandum Order No. 21, Series of 2026 on the responsible adoption of AI in tertiary education. |
| TESDA (Tech-Voc) | Hosted natively on the TESDA Online Program (TOP) e-learning portal. | Integrates with TESDA’s existing national frameworks for AI competencies and micro-credentials. |
The launch builds upon Google’s existing commitment to upskill one million DepEd educators nationwide. Google Philippines Country Manager Prep Palacios emphasized that the training is designed to augment—not replace—human teachers.
“Learning is central to everything we do at Google, and our commitment to Philippine education has always been a top priority,” said Palacios. “We know that while AI is transforming both education and educators, technology is a tool that supports the physical and mental capacities of our teachers in their work.”
Palacios noted that providing bite-sized, practical lessons ensures teachers can immediately apply productivity-enhancing AI tools without being overwhelmed by technical jargon.
Filipino educators can access the modules through their respective agency portals: DepEd teachers via the Bureau of Learning Delivery Hub, higher education faculty through CHED-participating HEI platforms, and vocational trainers via the TESDA Online Program.
